Effective communication and consistent measurement across all engineering areas and processes are fundamental to the design and manufacture of top-quality products. Geometric and dimensional tolerances, GD&T, are essential to achieve these objectives.
As a tool, GD&T has been used in the automotive, aerospace, electronics, industrial design and other manufacturing industries over the last few decades to improve product quality. Their use has expanded as industries have moved from mechanical drawing to digital design.
GD&T ensures that parts fit and function correctly. It’s a symbolic language that perfectly captures the design intent.
More GD&T is now being integrated into CAD files along with product manufacturing information (PMI). Not only do quality engineers need to access these data sets, they also need to decode the design intent. What's more, international GD&T standards are constantly evolving, creating opportunities for interpretation and costly errors.
Our Metrolog software provides a comprehensive set ofGD&T tools to intelligently guide the user through an efficient workflow with a precise understanding of the part's condition: possible sources of stacking errors in assemblies by working simultaneously with multiple results, and obtaining accurate and usable information from the analysis.
The hands-on approach to advanced algorithms and calculation methods makes GD&T easy to master for busy engineers with many responsibilities, or for users who have not mastered GD&T in depth.

Metrolog features a GD&T processing engine to handle the most complex cases in record time.
NIST-PTB-certified results give you the confidence to carry out fast, accurate inspections. Metrolog's features enable you to format reliable, consistent inspections with full traceability throughout the process.
The Metrolog engine eliminates the need for intermediate steps, eliminating the need for the operator to know which algorithm or constraints to apply to a given characteristic or piece of data. Metrolog will automatically process them in compliance with the standard. Whenevaluating a GD&T in Metrolog X4, a reference frame (DRF) is automatically created; degrees of freedom are automatically selected according to the DRF, thus avoiding any possible misinterpretation by the user. Optimization is also performed according to the shape of the tolerance zone.
Metrolog offers astonishing GD&T reporting capabilities: Table results with numerical values, Go-No-Go reports...
Graphical views with labels showing GD&T calculation results next to the GD&T cartridge... In addition, provide numerous dedicated detailed views to illustrate GD&T results. These detailed views are legible and very useful for machining operators to show them where, why and how to set/adjust the correction on their production machine.
Metrolog's GD&T engine is compliant and up to date with ASME and ISO standards.
